CBC Softball Pens Castro as New Head Coach

Beeville, Tx-  Coastal Bend College would like to welcome and introduce, Angel Castro as Softball's new head coach. 

Angel Castro is starting her first season as the head coach at Coastal Bend College in Fall 2019. Prior to taking this position, Castro played starting shortstop at Odessa College, finishing ninth in the nation her sophomore year at the NJCCA national tournament. She went on to play for The University of Texas-Permian Basin; leading the team in home runs and RBIs. 
 
Castro started her coaching career at Eastern New Mexico University in 2012, as the hitting and infield coach. After her time at ENMU, Castro was hired as the assistant coach at Paris Junior College, working again as the hitting and infield coach in addition to heading up recruiting. In 2014, Castro was promoted to head coach at PJC, leading her team to back to back regional tournament appearances, falling one game short of the national tournament in her second season.
 
During her time at PJC, her team showed consistent improvement in GPA, graduation rate, and on the field. She finished her last season with a record of 38-20, doubling her win total from the previous year.

Castro holds a Master of Science in Physical Education from Eastern New Mexico and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from The University of Texas-Permian Basin.
